The “Seven-course Dinner” (lâ sénâ di sèt sén) is one of the ancient Oltrepò Pavese Christmas traditions. This tradition has been studied by chef Piera Selvatico of Selvatico restaurant in Rivanazzano (PV) in 1987 and has been the subject of a recent book by Angelo Vicini. The “Seven-course Dinner” was the meatless dinner of the peasant families served on the day before Christmas’ Eve: it was composed by seven courses, each full of religious, magical and propitiatory symbols. We will recreate this tradition at our agriturismo on Saturday December 19th 2015, reinterpreting some of the traditional recipes.
